I just read this story, that says Tom Cruise may be reprising his role of the (young back then) cocky pilot Maverick, for a Top Gun sequel.
They obviously wouldn't have him playing Maverick 22 years ago, still that young. But, the rumor is that they have an idea for him to be an instructor at the Top Gun school, having to deal with a new cocky young pilot (the young female, as the rumors go, version of himself, if you will).
There isn't enough information in the article for me to make a determination on whether or not I think this idea is truly workable. Then again, this is all still just Hollywood rumor. I haven't heard anything about this from anywhere else really. But, I'd go see the film, if it did happen, just for curiosities' sake, if nothing else.

And, I'll probably be doing another list at some point, with more songs.
Did I get your favorite 80's song? If not, tell us which one is your fav.
20 More of the Most Memorable 80's Flicks
Okay, so I couldn't help myself. With so many great 80's films out there, how could I stick to just the original top 20 list? So, here are 20 more!
1. Teen Wolf. He just wanted to be noticed and appreciated. Being a werewolf wasn't the way he though that would happen.
2. Flight of the Navigator. That was one crazy Alien!
3. Earth Girls are Easy. Okay, I know it sounds like a cheesy p-o-r-n flick. But, I swear, it's not! Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis, Jim Carrey, and Damon Wayans make an excellent combo!
4. Adventures in Babysitting. Who knew that babysitting a couple of kids could be so dangerous?
5. Aliens. The ultimate movie in the sci-fi/horror category!
6. The Terminator. In some ways, you could argue that the second installment was superior. But, this is the original! And, it's one of the few movies (if there even are anymore) where Arnie plays a bad guy, THE bad guy, in fact.
7. Baby Boom. A cute little comedy, that focused on one woman's struggle to balance her career, and a baby that she didn't even know existed.
8. Beetlejuice. Whatever you do, don't say his name out loud.
9. Beverly Hills Cop. An awesome comedy, with a serious story line.
10. Turner and Hooch. This dog was every clean freak's worst nightmare. But, he grows on ya.
11. Big. See what happens when you're in such a hurry to grow up?
12. Big Business. Bette Midler and Lilly Tomlin, playing twins seperated at birth, could only come together in a superbly funny way!
13. Big Trouble in Little China. Hilarity, drama, excitement, mysticism...
14. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Boy, I bet Keanu Reeves wishes he could break free of that stereotype!
15. The Blues Brothers. Few movies even come close to it's greatness.
16. Ghost Busters. Who ya gonna call?
17. Born on the Fourth of July. A touching tale of patriotism and courage.
18. Caddyshack. Pure, unbridled, comedy.
19. A Christmas Story. We STILL have to watch it every Christmas!
20. The Karate Kid. Sometimes, you just have to stand up for yourself, even if running away looks smarter.
And, as a bonus, Short Circuit.
Chances are, I'm going to have to do another list of 20+ soon. Click Here to view my original list of 20 of the most memorable 80's movies.

2 FREE Ways You Can Help Change the World For the Better.
Not all of us have the money to give as much as we want, need, or feel we should to charity. But, most of us want to help change the world for the better, even if it's just in a small way. Well, these sites will help you accomplish that, without having to spend any money at all, and with only devoting a small amount of your online time.
The Hunger Site (click here) donates food for the hungry as their primary function. Every day, you can click on a button at the top of the page, and donate 1.1 cups of food to the hungry by doing so. They have other ways you can help too, most of which are free, like sending an e-card.
One of the really great things about the hunger site is that you can give to other causes in the same way. Are you passionate about animals? Want to give more to breast cancer prevention? They have tabs for that and much more.
The available causes they have, that you can give to by clicking, sending e-cards, etc. are; (ending) Hunger, Breast Cancer, Child Health, Literacy, Rainforest (preservation), and Animal Rescue.
Another great site, that will allow you to give to a worth cause, is FreeRice.com. This site serves two functions actually. When you go onto the site, there will be a vocabulary word, with four possible definitions below it. You click on the definition that you believe best suits the word. For every word/definition combo you get correct, the site donates 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Programme, to help end world hunger. So, you'll be building your vocabulary, having fun, and helping to end world hunger all at the same time, and all for free!
Molly Ringwald - Back in Action.
**Any clickable links you see will take you to more information on the subject**
Molly Ringwald was such a popular figure in the 80's, it only seemed right to make a post about her, now that she's starring in The Secret Life of The American Teenager, an original ABC Family television series.
She's had little bit parts (like, in "Not Another Teen Movie"), and appeared in various series through the years, but nothing that was really eye-catching. And, it's been a while since I've seen any kind of promotional commercial, using her name to push a show or movie.
I must say that I find it interestingly ironic that she'll be playing the mother, especially considering how many of her teenage characters put their moms through quite a bit! Still, if for no other reason then pure nostalgia, I plan on watching a couple episodes of the show.
Heck, I'd just like to see if she's finally aged a bit! Can I tell you how ticked off I was to see her in "Not Another Teen Movie", looking like she could still play a sixteen year old and get away with it (if we didn't all know better by now)?! Seriously!
I was born in 1981! I was younger then she, when I watched all her movies! I should look younger then her! Dammit Janet!
Okay, I'm done now. I'm sorry you had to "see" me like that. I'm back now.
In any event, the show looks like it'll be more on the dramatic side, much like the show, The O.C., which isn't my cup of tea, personally. BUT, it does have Molly in it. So, I'm sure I can deal. :D

80's Toys and Characters Making a Come-back
For a few years now, I've been noticing that some of our beloved 80's toys and characters have been coming back into the market, for a new generation to enjoy and fall in love with. However, as happy as I am that they're back, I'm a bit disappointed in how different they are.
The first time I noticed that they were manufacturing My Little Ponies again, was a couple years back when my 6 year old step sister showed me one of hers. It just didn't look right. It didn't have the scent, it was a different size, and it had a completely useless magnet on the bottom of one of it's hooves. I even asked her what that stupid magnet was for. She had NO clue, but thought that it was kind of interesting to stick paperclips on it.
It was virtually the same situation when they brought back Teddy Ruxpin for a while. He was smaller, his clothes weren't right, and so on. Considering how very obsessed I was with my Teddy Ruxpin, that one really got under my skin.
The Care Bears they've reissued though, those I am happy with. They have all different kinds, and apparently they're are more popular now then ever before! They even have one Care Bear toy that tells stories, along the lines of Teddy Ruxpin, and comes with a book to read along. Unlike the original story telling stuffy, dear old Teddy, this Care Bear doesn't need tapes, she uses more sophisticated technology. Well, I suppose they couldn't keep EVERYTHING the way it was. They had to keep up with the times. Still, the new Care Bear line actually impressed me.
Is it just me, or has G.I Joe and the Transformers lost their touch in the toy world though? Those two seem dramatically cheaper, less interesting (fewer things you can do with them), and smaller to boot. It's like they're making the Polly Pocket version of Transformers now! With the obvious exception of the really big ones you may be able to find on occassion.
I'm waiting, desperately, for He-man and She-ra to make a come back! I really want to be able to go to Toys R Us and pick up Castle Grayskull! That would rock. Although, thinking about how disappointed I've been with some of these comebacks, I'm not sure I could handle being disappointed in one of those.
And, for a while there, McDonalds had some He-man toys. It was around 2002, when they tried to bring He-man back. So, I was pretty excited to buy my daughter a Happy Meal and get a Battle Cat/Cringer toy! That actually made my day!
